# Settings Keyboard shortcuts in Gnome<a name="GnomeShortcuts"></a>
Till the date of writing this wiki the only possible way of setting global shortcuts in Gnome was in gconf. First test if command number is not in use
# gconftool-2 -g /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_1
# gconftool-2 -g /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_1
now set a keyboard shortcut for showing/hiding the roster window:
# gconftool-2 -t string -s /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_1 '<Control><Alt>X'
# gconftool-2 -t string -s /apps/metacity/keybinding_commands/command_1 'gajim-remote toggle_roster_appearance'
so now hitting Control Alt and "X" at the same time show and hides you roster window.
You can continue playing with it and set shortcuts for commands that you need, and then throw your mouse :).
The next shortcut should be set on different number e.g. "/apps/metacity/global_keybindings/run_command_2", maximum allowed number is 12. |
