Neither Gajim.app nor executing launch.py work
My goal: Use XMPP with OMEMO natively on Mac OS.
Just like user zedocrob (#9156 (comment 187778)) I was not able to get other XMPP clients (e.g. Pidgin) to work properly hence my hope for Gajim.
Versions
- OS: Mac OS 10.12.6 Sierra
- Gajim version: 1.0.3+59428d2f
- GTK version: gtk+3 3.22.30
- Python-nbxmpp version: 0.6.6
Steps to reproduce the problem
- Follow the installation guide https://dev.gajim.org/gajim/gajim/wikis/help/gajimmacosx#gajim-10- to install Gajim and dependencies via Brew
- Try to execute
python3 launch.py
via terminal OR ALTERNATIVELY: - Build and try to open Gajim.app via terminal
open ~/Applications/Gajim.app
OR try to execute it via doubleclick.
Expected behavior
Gajim should start.
Actual behavior
Gajim does does not start either way.
- Using
python3 launch.py
in Terminal:
> Traceback (most recent call last):
File "launch.py", line 4, in
gajim.main()
File "/Users/abc/Applications/gajim/gajim/gajim.py", line 121, in main

_init_gtk()
File "/Users/jim/Applications/gajim/gajim/gajim.py", line 56, in _init_gtk
import gi
ImportError: No module named 'gi'
- When using
python launch.py
in Terminal:
> Traceback (most recent call last):

from gajim import gajim
File "/Users/jim/Applications/gajim/gajim/gajim.py", line 30, in

- Executing Gajim.app
In Terminal: "The application cannot be opened because it has an incorrect executable format."
Via Doubleclick: "You can’t open the application “Gajim” because it is not supported on this type of Mac." (App automatically has the Unsupported.icns) ________
