Website infrastructure
I would like to propose some changes in the website infeastructure for gajim.org. This would be to give it an up-to-date look and also to simplify its structure a bit (e.g. downloads could be better organized in my opinion), and to make editing more accessible for users.
The concept used by prosody.im and xmpp.org seems promising. See for example https://hg.prosody.im/site/
This concept would also be an advantage over the current website, because it allows easy editing via markdown and it uses bootstrap for navigation and styling. There would be simple html as output pages, so I think no significant attack surface in comparison to the current situation. To manage this, a possible solution would be Jekyll: https://jekyllrb.com/showcase/ It seems this would be easily integratable into the Gitlab CI as well :) I guess I would be the one doing most of the editing. Would it be possible to set up a testlab on the website's server to try and see how it works?
What do you think about this idea?
