Steps to reproduce the problem
I was running nmap on my local network (as well as having too many tabs open as usual). I had 2 xmpp accounts logged in (quite usual), had chatted a little, but had been idle for an hour or 2 when the problem occurred shortly after starting nmap.
Hope this helps, and thanks to you all for a great client.
