unicode emoticons are not displayed on windows if font-emoticons is set
Please first check if another issue has been opened for your problem
Versions
- OS: Windows 10
- Gajim version: 1.0.0
- GTK version: 3.22.28
- Python-nbxmpp version: 0.6.4
Steps to reproduce the problem
- Set Preferences -> Chat appearance -> Emoticons to font-emoticons
- Restart gajim
- Send or receive a message with any unicode emoji character, e.g.
🍾
Expected behavior
Have the inserted symbol correctly displayed both in the message input and chat window
Actual behavior
I do have all the necessary fonts with those characters (noto-emoji-* and full noto-* fonts pack) installed on my system, as I am able to see unicode emoticons in other applications, like notepad++ and chrome browser, so the issue is definitely on gajim's side. I am also aware, that unicode emoticons are correctly displayed with the option noto-emoticons, but I just find this particular font unbearably awful.
