No new message notifications shown in tray & on workspace icon for public MUC messages

Actual behavior
When there is a new message in a MUC mentioning my nickname a notification popup is shown as expected, but the indicator in tray doesn't change and there is also no new messages counter on the corresponding workspace icon. In contrast to that there is a new messages counter on the MUC's entry on the roster list though.
